Food Facts now just a click away.

An extensive database of nutritional information once available only on the website of the U.S. Department of Agriculture can now be downloaded right to your personal computer. The database has detailed nutritional information for more than 6,000 food products, including those from fast food restaurants, and provides calorie and fat content, as well as the amount of carbohydrates, protein, vitamins and minerals. Food can be researched by brand name or under generic names. Nutrients are already being added to the database for an update that will be published this month. Further updates to the National Nutrient Database will be published once a year on the USDA Web site. The database can be downloaded from the USDA web site at:

Q & A

Question: I see that your ALL ONE for Active Seniors contain something called Reishi mushroom, what is it and why is it good?

Answer: The Reishi is a highly respected tonic that promotes calm. Research at Oklahoma's Oral Robert University finds that substances in this mushroom reduce the flow of nerve impulses through the sympathetic nervous system. A few small trials have suggested that it may have a beneficial effect on blood platelets and relieving the symptoms associated with hypertension. It has also been found to help lower blood pressure and reduce cholesterol deposits.
Since Reishi stimulates the maturation of macrophages, it can help fight infections. It also contains terpenes which offer anti-inflammatory and antioxidant protection.
While no contraindications have been found, reishi is not recommended for people with autoimmune diseases or taking immunosuppressive drugs. Anyone on blood-thinning drugs should seek professional supervision before using the mushroom.
