Eyeballing portion sizes
Serving size can be a matter of opinion for some people, resulting in a gross underestimation of how many calories they consume.
Here are some recommendations to help you make sure your opinion is accurate.

  • Meat and fish: 3 to 4 ounces cooked is a serving, about the size of a deck of playing cards. Lean sirloin has 180 calories and 7 grams of fat per serving.
  • Cheese: One ounce of hard cheese is a serving, approximately a one-inch cube. This is equal to about 110 calories and 9 grams of fat.
  • Breakfast cereal: 1 or 2 ounces of dry cereal is a serving. This will vary between approximately 1/2-1 cup depending on the kind of cereal, use a scale when possible.
  • Bread: A serving of bread is one slice, usually 1 ounce, from a standard loaf.. Some rolls or bagels weigh 4
to 6 ounces, or more, making them equal to 4-6 servings of bread.
  • Salad dressing: One serving is equal to a tablespoon of dressing. This would give 60-85 calories and 6-9 grams of fat.
Q & A

Question: I am under the impression that rice is a starch not a protein.. How is the rice protein made from a starch? I thought the only non-meat protein sources are milk and soy. Can you please explain how rice can be used to make protein?

Answer: The rice protein concentrate that we use in the ALL ONE Rice Base is 70% protein with low residual sugars. It is made by filtering protein and fiber from whole rice digested enzymatically to produce rice syrups. No acids, bases or other chemicals are used in this process. The residual carbohydrates are converted into a mixture of simple sugars (glucose and maltose) and oligosaccharides, and then washed away from the protein.
The rice protein concentrate contains all of the essential amino acids required by the body.
