Stress Vitamins and Supplements a key part of Stress Management

January 10th, 2009

By now everyone is familiar with the term stress. Not a day goes by that we don’t hear someone say: “I’m stressed” or “Life is so stressful.” This wasn’t always the case. The term stress was coined by Dr. Hans Selye. The Hungarian born physician first wrote about in the British journal Nature in the summer of 1936. This is the same year my father James founded his vitamin company, Plus Products. It was around the same time that Dad met nutritionist Adelle Davis. Adelle became familiar with Dr. Selye’s work with stress and became interested in in finding the nutritional components necessary for proper stress management. Our family’s specialty was marketing cutting edge supplements, this collaboration led to the introduction of the first stress vitamins.

Vitamins for stress

Stress as it is now known effects us both our physical and emotional well being. Stress speeds up the aging process, saps our energy and has a negative impact on our overall health. What a wonderful, simple, safe and unique way to help bring relief from stress. We found the key was Vitamin B. Actually all the B vitamins that make up the B-Complex. A complete B-Complex along with the most famous water soluble Vitamin; Vitamin C. B – Complex and Vitamin C were the basic nutrients in our original “Stress Vitamins.” Now fifty, sixty years later the market place is flooded with “Stress Formula” supplements.

Stress Supplements Evolve

A lot we have learned since those early days when we created the first stress supplement. The main thing being that even though the fragile water soluble B and C vitamins are depleted rapidly by stress other nutrients are effected as well. My dear friend the late Emanuel Cheraskin M.D. used to say: “If you are deficient in one nutrient chances are very good you are deficient in many.”

So even though people are marketing numerous choices when it comes to stress supplements most of them follow the old format which is simply B vitamins along with vitamin C.  Research indicates that other nutrients are important as well for proper stress management. That being said ALL ONE Multiple formulas contain not only high doses of B-Complex and vitamin C, found in stress formulas, you will also find the widest range other vitamins, minerals, amino acids and important natural food factors.  All of these additional nutrients and co-factors are so necessary in provide the proper balanced of nutrition needed for complete nutritional stress management.
